This week we will touch on the benefits of being a minimalist. I have only put down 10 reasons, but I am sure that there are many more reasons, if you would like you can leave reasons that are important to you in the comments.
With having fewer possessions it gives us more time to enjoy with family and friends or using the time to volunteer, just doing things that bring more value to our and others lives.
This is an easy one, the less stuff you consume the more money you will have to save or to make new experiences in your life.
3. Fewer Things
As a minimalist we may have fewer items in our household, but they are nicer objects and we understand the importance and joy that these items bring to our lives. Quality over Quantity.
4. Spring Cleaning
Spring cleaning, what is that? With having fewer items we are able to spend only minimal time each week cleaning and have no reason for a major clean.
5. Easy Wardrobe
One of the best things that I have found about minimalism is that I really don't need all the clothing I used to have. I now do Courtney Carver's Project 333 and find that I dress so much better because I am always wearing my favourite clothes. 6. Less Stress
By removing all of the unwanted things in my life I have found that my anxiety levels have decreased dramatically. With having fewer items you will find more time to relax, be it by meditating, going for a walk or just enjoying a good book. 7. Smaller Living Spaces
With the need for fewer things it gives us the ability to live in smaller accommodations. There is no longer a need to try to keep up to the Jone's anymore. Also remember that it is not a competition with other minimalists to see who can have the least amount of stuff. Find what works for you and what suits your lifestyle, the only person you have to please is yourself.
8. Helping The Environment
With minimalism comes the want for fewer commercial products, therefore leading to less packaging being disposed of. Since I have started my journey I have found that I make much wiser decisions in what items I purchase and where. I have also stopped buying disposable water bottles and bring my own bags to the store, refusing to use those single use bags anymore. It may not seem like much but if we all make a small change then it will make for a greener planet.
9. It's Relaxing
I know this one seems repetitive but it is so nice and calming to walk into or relax in an area that isn't filled up with excess clutter.
10. The Ability to Travel More
With all the money that you save downsizing your way of living, it gives you the ability to go places that you have always wanted to go. I know since we have started on our journey into minimalism that we have been able to see and enjoy more things. And when we travel now we don't have to worry as much about what to pack, with a smaller wardrobe you are always going to bring your favourites. I myself would prefer to have memories over the latest gadget or fashion.
